# The Crossmart skill

The Crossmart skill is an [Agent Skill](https://agentskills.io/): a folder with a `SKILL.md` that teaches an AI agent how to work with Crossmart on top of the [MCP server](https://docs.crossmart.io/agents/). It covers:

- connecting a store and checking that it’s ready to publish;
- adding and publishing products, and reading [listing states](https://docs.crossmart.io/sellers/listing-states/);
- fixing listings that need details, and retrying failed ones;
- eBay categories and item specifics;
- stock adjustments, orders and reports;
- safety rules: confirm bulk and destructive actions, never ask for marketplace passwords, keep API keys out of the chat.

The skill needs the MCP server connected first. Pick your agent’s guide in [Connect your AI agent](https://docs.crossmart.io/agents/). Agents without skill support still get the essential guidance from the tools’ own descriptions.

The skill lives in the Crossmart repository on GitHub, which is private for now and becomes public later. Until then, the commands below that clone it or install from GitHub won’t work.

## Install

Every agent reads the same folder. Get it once:

```bash
git clone --depth 1 https://github.com/crossmart-io/crossmart.git /tmp/crossmart
```

| Agent | Install |
| - | - |
| Any agent the `skills` CLI knows | `npx skills add crossmart-io/crossmart --skill crossmart` (add `-g` for all projects, `-a <agent>` to pick one) |
| Claude Code | `cp -R /tmp/crossmart/skills/crossmart ~/.claude/skills/` (or `.claude/skills/` in a project) |
| claude.ai and Claude Desktop | Zip the `crossmart` folder, then **Customize → Skills → + → Upload a skill**. Needs code execution turned on. |
| OpenClaw | `openclaw skills install /tmp/crossmart/skills/crossmart --as crossmart` |
| OpenAI Codex, Goose, Zed | `cp -R /tmp/crossmart/skills/crossmart ~/.agents/skills/` |
| Gemini CLI | `gemini skills install https://github.com/crossmart-io/crossmart.git --path skills/crossmart --scope user` |
| Cursor | `cp -R /tmp/crossmart/skills/crossmart ~/.cursor/skills/` (it also reads `~/.agents/skills/`) |
| VS Code (GitHub Copilot) | `cp -R /tmp/crossmart/skills/crossmart ~/.copilot/skills/` (or `.github/skills/` in a project) |
| Windsurf (Devin Desktop) | `cp -R /tmp/crossmart/skills/crossmart ~/.config/devin/skills/` |
| Cline | `cp -R /tmp/crossmart/skills/crossmart ~/.cline/skills/` |
| Hermes Agent | `hermes skills install crossmart-io/crossmart/skills/crossmart` |
| Continue, ChatGPT, Meta Muse | No documented `SKILL.md` support. The MCP tool descriptions still guide the agent. |

For Claude, the zip must contain the `crossmart` folder with `SKILL.md` inside. See [Using skills in Claude](https://support.claude.com/en/articles/12512180-using-skills-in-claude).

## Compatibility

`SKILL.md` uses only the fields of the [Agent Skills specification](https://agentskills.io/specification) (`name`, `description`, `license`, `compatibility` and `metadata`), so every agent that reads skills accepts it. It stays short and loads its detailed references only when a workflow needs them. The skill is licensed under MIT-0.
