eBay

Status: live.

Crossmart lists your products on eBay as fixed-price listings, keeps their prices and stock in step, and reads the account’s orders.

  1. In Channels, click Connect on eBay.
  2. Choose the marketplace you sell on. Each marketplace is its own store in Crossmart; connect another one the same way with the same eBay account.
  3. Sign in on eBay and approve Crossmart.

The store is named after your eBay user name and the site, such as demo_seller · eBay US, and prices on it are in the marketplace’s currency.

eBay lists items only under business policies: one for shipping, one for payment and one for returns. Every listing in the store is sold under the store’s listing defaults, which you set once in the store’s Settings → Listing defaults:

Default What to choose
Shipping, payment, return policy One of your eBay account’s policies. When the account has only one of a type, it is used
Condition New by default, or any eBay condition (used, refurbished, for parts…)
Ships from The postal code and country (and optionally the city) items ship from

Until a policy of each type and the ship-from address are set, the store shows Finish setup to publish and its products wait in Needs details.

  • Create default policies creates three on your eBay account and chooses them: free standard shipping with 3 business days of handling, immediate payment, and 30-day returns paid by the buyer. You can edit them on eBay later. This works on eBay US, UK, Germany and Australia; on the other marketplaces, create a shipping policy on eBay.
  • If your account hasn’t turned on business policies, Opt in to business policies does it. eBay can take a few minutes.
  • To use your own, create them on eBay (business policies), then click Refresh policies.

Every eBay listing is in a category, and each category asks for its own item specifics (eBay calls them aspects), such as Brand, Color or Department. Some are required.

  • Category. When a product is first published, Crossmart uses eBay’s top suggestion for its title. You can search for another in the listing editor and choose it.
  • Item specifics. Once the listing has a category, the listing editor shows its item specifics, required ones first, with eBay’s allowed values. Brand comes from the product’s vendor (Unbranded without one), and each variant’s options (such as Size) are sent as its own specifics.

When a required item specific is missing, Crossmart doesn’t send the listing. It shows Needs details with the names eBay requires, such as “eBay requires these item specifics in this category: Department.” Fill them in and save; the listing is sent again.

  • Title (cut to eBay’s 80 characters), description, up to 24 images, condition, item specifics, and a barcode as a UPC or EAN.
  • A product with several variants becomes one multi-variation listing.
  • The price after the store’s pricing rule. Compare-at prices are not sent.
  • Stock: the available quantity after every change. A variant that doesn’t track stock lists 1 unit.

eBay has no hidden listings, so a product that isn’t active can’t be published, and making a published product inactive ends its listing. Removing a product from the store ends the listing too; adding it back lists it again.

A variant keeps the SKU it was first listed with, so changing the SKU in Crossmart never orphans the eBay listing. eBay needs SKUs of letters, digits, - and _, up to 50 characters, unique across your eBay account; a variant whose SKU doesn’t fit gets one generated by Crossmart. Keep SKUs unique across your catalog.

A product that isn’t active can’t be listed on eBay, and a variant past eBay’s 250 revisions a day is refused until the next day. After fixing the cause, click Try again; see Listing states.

Crossmart checks the account’s orders every 2 minutes. Each store keeps only the orders sold on its own marketplace. An order holds its stock at once, shipped lines leave your stock, and a cancelled order returns it. Refunds lower the order’s total but don’t return stock. Crossmart never reads or stores the buyer. See Orders.

  • eBay allows 250 revisions of a listing per day. Crossmart skips updates eBay already shows, but a variant whose stock changes more often than that is refused until the next day.
  • Between an eBay sale and Crossmart’s next check (up to 2 minutes), another stock change can briefly send eBay a quantity that doesn’t count that sale yet; the next check corrects it.
  • A product listed on two eBay marketplaces of the same account shares one stock count on eBay.

Item specifics per variant beyond the options, images per variant, compare-at prices, pushing tracking numbers to eBay, and returns.
