Publish products

A store sells only the products you add to it. Adding a product publishes it at once; you don’t need to press a separate publish button.

  • The store is connected and its setup is finished (see Connect a store).
  • The product is Active. Stores only sell active products: Shopify keeps a draft product hidden, and eBay won’t list one.
  • The product has at least one image at a public https address. Most channels need one.
  • Products with several variants name their options (such as Size and Color). A product has up to three options.

There are three ways, and you can mix them:

Way Where Stays in the store
One product The product’s page, Channels card → Add to store. You can change how it shows in that store before adding it. Until you remove it
Many products Select them in the Products table and add them to a store. Until you remove them
Automatic rule The store’s Settings tab: All products, or Products matching filters (tags, vendor, status, search). Off by default. While the rule matches the product

Products imported from a Shopify store are in that store already. Saving an automatic rule applies it right away: it publishes what it now adds and takes off what it now drops, and shows how many before you save.

Your plan sets how many active listings you can have. Past the limit, Crossmart says so and publishes nothing more until you upgrade or remove listings.

Publishing runs in the background and usually takes seconds. The product’s Channels card and the store’s Listings tab show each product’s state: Publishing while it is sent, then Published with a link to the live listing, or Needs details or Failed with what to fix.

The products table can be filtered by store: products in a store, not in a store, in no store, or With listing errors. The Channels item in the sidebar shows how many listings failed.

You don’t republish by hand. When you edit a product, change its stock, or change a store’s pricing rule, Crossmart sends the change to every store that lists the product.

To show a product differently in one store (its own title, price, images or stock limits), use the listing editor.

Open the product’s listing and choose Remove from store. It is taken off the store in the background (archived on Shopify, ended on eBay) and keeps its order history. The automatic rule won’t add it back; add it again by hand when you want it back.

Deleting a product from your catalog takes it off every store that lists it.

Send all products to [channel] again, on the store’s page, sends every product in the store again and takes off the ones it no longer has. You don’t need it day to day; use it after an outage, or after changing listings on the channel’s own site.
